- The Wahl Scholarship 2027 goes to Charlotte Illi (Brooks & Brooks), Cameron Sutton (CAM & Co. Barbers) and Monika Felczykowska (Monia Style).
- Each winner receives selected Wahl academy courses throughout 2027 at Wahl HQ Academy plus a Wahl product kit.
- The scholarship includes the Wahl Bootcamp; past scholars have become educators and brand ambassadors.
- The Fellowship for British Hairdressing marks eighty years of operation.

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing has named three winners for The Wahl Scholarship 2027: Charlotte Illi of Brooks & Brooks, Cameron Sutton of CAM & Co. Barbers, and Monika Felczykowska of Monia Style. Each receives a choice of selected Wahl academy courses running throughout the year at the Wahl HQ Academy, plus a Wahl product kit to build out their kit bag.
That's a practical package, not a trophy. For a working stylist or barber, a year of Wahl HQ Academy training means paid-for education that would otherwise come off the salon's training budget — and the product kit removes the upfront cost of tooling up with professional clippers and trimmers. If you're a salon owner wondering whether to enter your juniors next cycle, the maths is simple: free education plus free tools.
What do the winners actually get?
The scholarship isn't a one-off workshop. It includes participation in the Wahl Bootcamp, an intensive training block that past scholars credit with giving them the confidence to push their careers forward. Several former recipients have gone on to become educators or ambassadors for the brands that sponsor Wahl's scholarship programmes — which tells you the real prize is a route into education work, one of the more reliable income streams in the trade.
In plain terms: this is a pipeline from chair to classroom, and these three have just stepped onto it.
What did the winners say?
Monika Felczykowska of Monia Style was candid about what the win means for her trajectory. She said: "This opportunity means a great deal to me, as it represents recognition of my hard work and dedication, and motivates me to continue developing my skills and growing professionally. I am very grateful for this opportunity and excited for what lies ahead."
Cameron Sutton of CAM & Co. Barbers called the win a "massive deal", adding that he can now "grow as a barber and educate other people" as his career progresses. For a barber at CAM & Co., the education angle matters — ambassador and educator roles carry both fee income and brand visibility that feed straight back into chair bookings.
How does the Fellowship frame it?
The Wahl Scholarship sits inside a wider portfolio. The Fellowship for British Hairdressing runs multiple scholarship programmes designed to give emerging creatives access to leading educators and global brands while they build technical, creative and commercial skills — the commercial piece being the one most training routes skip.
Fellowship President Simon Shaw put the programme in historical context. He said: "For eighty years, the Fellowship has brought together the very best of British Hairdressing. That legacy is something we are incredibly proud to inherit, but our responsibility is to ensure the Fellowship continues to evolve for future generations."
He added: "The Fellowship for British Hairdressing's Scholarships have been implemented to ensure that next generation is provided with the opportunity to excel in the industry. Congratulations to Charlotte, Cameron and Monica."
Why should your salon care?
Eighty years of the Fellowship, and a scholarship structure that has already produced educators and brand ambassadors — that's a track record worth watching if you employ rising talent. The cost to the salon is entry paperwork; the return is trained staff who don't drain your education budget.
Watch for the next Fellowship scholarship intake announcement if you have team members who fit the emerging-creative brief.
